[begin handwritten text] 25 Jan 1954 [end handwritten text] Lewis E. Pierce Lewis Ezra Pierce, 67, president of the Newark local of the Fibre Workers Union, AFL, died Saturday morning. Mr. Pierce of New London Road, near Newark, was a native of Kemblesville, Pa., the son of Ezra and Jennie Pierce. He had lived in the Newark area most of his life and had worked for the National Vulcanized Fibre Company there for 21 years. He was a member of Wesley Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elsie Mercer Pierce; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Camac, Mooresetown, N. J.; Miss Ethel Pierce, Wilmington; Mrs. Jack Abrams Hillcrest, and Mrs. Natalie Taylor, Newark; three sons, L. Donnell Pierce, Elsmere; Harold E. Pierce, Lancaster, Pa.; Ralph L. Pierce, Newark; two sisters, Mrs. George Hobson, Midletown [Middletown]; Mrs. George Edgar, Lewistown, Pa.; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Another son, H. Wayne Pierce, was killed in World War II. Services will be held at the R. T. Jones Funeral Parlors, Newark, on Wednesday at 2 p. m., with interment in White Clay Creek Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home tomorrow evening.
