[page 1] Directions to proceed to Petersburg Va.-- Go to Washington with a certificate of one or more distinguished citizens vouching for your loyalty-- apply to Col. Jordan No. 487, Eleventh St., Washington Headqrs. Pennsylvania State Military State Agent, who will assist you in procuring you a pass to proceed to the Hospital 18th Army Corps near Petersburg. State your reasons and purposes and what you wish to go for to Col. Jordan who will inform you how to proceed and to whom you will apply. Take passage on the Mail Boat that leaves daily for City Point from Washington -- having your pass in case of military interfence. From City Point you can take the Military R.R. to the front getting off near the Field Hospital 18th A. Corps which passes within 1/4 of a mile. On your arrival at City Point Va up James River you will report to the Provost Marshal showing your pass and get a permit of him to take up the body of your son. Gen. Patrick is Provost Marshal Army of the Potomac with his permit no one will interfere with you. He will readily comply with your wishs if you have Secrety Stantons pass. Your son's remains lie in the burial Grounds of the Field Hospital 18th Army Corps near the Main Wagon Road to the Front, it is reported his grave is marked Geo. K. Reece, Co "D" 97th Pa.
