[page 1] Fernandina Florida Sunday March 6th 1864 Dear Fouther I have takeing the pleasent opportunity wich it gives me pleasure of sending you a few lines to inform you of my health and situation at present I am well at present and hoping those fiew lines will also find you the same I am still driling once a day on artilrey pieces whell their is a great stur hear now about the vetrien buisness and our adgent maid a very flourie speach this afternoon on the subject but for all their speaches I have not got in the humer yet to go for three long [written vertically] years [page 2] Whell I have sent you a paper with the true acounts of what has buin going on in the department and that I send a ring in it for Sarah Mariah tel her to be shure and not put it in hot water George K has just writen a leter to Mary L Mousley and sent her his likness to her I cant think of much of aney importence to write about for evrey thing is quiet and lonsem here now and we onley get a mail once a month and I hapvent had a leter theas two last mails that caim I dont think that you wright ofen or els I dont get more than half what you do send George and Nathaniel le Booth is out at church this eavning [page 3] we have begin to think about geting home soon for their is talk of this regment being discharged the twentey fifth of July hoping the war will be over befor that time I will close by saing awnser soon yours truley I still Remain your son Enos W Pierce To Mr Elias Pierce Direct Compney F 97th Regt Pa.
