Abstract
Description
In this report we summarize research findings on the general behavior of individuals/ households, organizations and communities in the pre-,trans, and post-impact periods of sudden natural and technological disasters. This is done for the purpose of drawing operational implications for those in the insurance industry in the United States responsible for planning and responding in such situations. Since mass media outlets would be one major way for reaching impacted populations, some observations about the mass operation of local community communication systems are provided.
