The Center for Disabilities Studies (CDS), located within the College of Human Services, Education, and Public Policy, is one of an elite group of over 60 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in the United States. The mission of CDS is to enhance the lives of individuals and families throughout the Delaware region through education, prevention, service, and research related to disabilities. The primary goal of the Center for Disabilities Studies is to promote independence and productivity so individuals and families can fully participate in community life. CDS has several partners in these endeavors, including many public, non-profit, community, and governmental organizations and groups. University partners include the Department of Individual and Family Studies, the Early Learning Center, and New Directions Early Head Start.
