Abstract: The 19 public school districts throughout the state of Delaware reported hiring a total of 1,101 teachers for the 2006-07 school year. The personnel directors from the 19 districts and 17 charter schools were asked to complete an online survey. This survey requested information on the number of new hires, when personnel directors were notified of vacancies, when contracts were offered, which teaching and non-teaching positions were difficult to fill, and recruitment tools used. This year, for the first time, the survey included questions concerning administrator supply to gauge Delaware’s ability to fill administrative positions. The data indicate that a good deal of activity in the state is focused on school administrator recruitment and preparation.
