Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway

Abstract

This is a nomination of the proposed Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway to the Scenic and Historic Highway Program of the Delaware Department of Transportation. The goal of this scenic and historic highway is to provide the traveler with an alternative travel route through the state in a generally south to north orientation that provides opportunities for experiencing Delaware’s Underground Railroad history by guiding visitors to locations where this history happened.
