Abstract | Between July of 1985 and January of 1986, research was conducted to estimate the number of handicapped individuals in New Castle County and to determine what service needs of this population are currently not being met. A broad definition of handicapped was employed to permit the investigation of a wide range of disabilities. These included vision and hearing impairments, orthopedic impairments, cognitive disorders, chronic health conditions, emotional disorders, and multiple handicaps. Special emphasis was placed on comparing residents of Wilmington with individuals living in the county. | en_US |
