Abstract | This report is part of a larger teacher recruitment and retention movement that began in April 2005 with the Teacher Recruitment and Retention Conference, which was held on April 6–7 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. At the conference, educational leaders from across the state shared their ideas for improving teacher hiring and retention. These discussions provided the impetus for this effort, as representatives from DASL, the Delaware Department of Education, and the Rodel Foundation attempted to clarify particular issues around teacher employment and attrition in Delaware school districts. This report documents these groups’ activities from May 2005 to April 2006. This documentation will continue with Phase Two of this research, as these leaders attempt to develop a better understanding of the “teacher pipeline” (or teacher supply and demand) in the state. | en |
