DescriptionThis capstone study evaluates a vulnerable coastal landscape along the Delaware River at the historic military site Fort DuPont in Delaware City, Delaware. The Fort DuPont Nature Trail Master Plan proposes unique design solutions that respond to sea level rise and coastal erosion. Recommendations include a connection of wooded and riverfront trails, living offshore breakwaters and an earthen levee designed to restore health to a degrading intertidal marsh, promote ecological and coastal resilience, and connect visitors with a healthy living shoreline ecosystem and to Delaware's history.
