DescriptionEnumerates the varied duties of Foreign Service officers; general public has little idea of work involved; all reports are sent to State Department, and from there copies are sent to the interested Department such as Agriculture or Commerce; reports are then distributed directly to the individuals or firms who will find them useful, but who probably will not know they are the work of the Consular officers; Commerce Department, for instance, gets larger appropriation, while State Department finds it difficult to stretch budget to cover necessities; suggests Foreign Service Officers, when on leave, use every opportunity to speak before business organizations and write articles for their local papers with reference to the Service and its work.en_US
